Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6
At Marvin UMC our goal is to partner with parents to help raise their children to love God and to have mission hearts. Check the monthly Messenger for a list of topics covered each Sunday in Sunday School, as well as the lessons to continue at home. Together we can provide a foundation for the acceptance and knowledge of Jesus Christ that leads to life eternal.
In addition to lessons about God, we offer numerous hand’s on opportunities for your children to live out their faith such as raising money for children's homes, collecting canned soup for the food bank or collecting pencils for PATH. Whether it is a Sunday morning or a Wednesday night, we are dedicated to communicating God’s love for the children of Marvin.
Marvin’s children are having a food drive that benefits the East Texas Food Bank. There are three assignments for success:
The team with the most collections will win a breakfast brunch and party, but everyone who contributes will know they have helped others.
The third Tuesday of each month is Marvin night at the East Texas Rescue Mission. We need six to 10 people (kids 6 and up can help) to prepare food, clean up and assist in the chapel. Upcoming dates are Feb. 16, March 16 and April 20. Contact Shannon Pogue for more information or to schedule your family for service.
This interactive, storytelling, family-friendly Easter event is set for 9:45-10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 28, in Fair Gym. There will be no Sunday School for children 2 through fifth-grade. Parents should stay and attend the walk with their child. Nursery is provided for infants through 4-year-olds, but children will not be taken to the event by nursery staff. Contact Shannon Pogue or Anquinette Eikner for information or to volunteer to help with the event.

The goal of the nursery program in our church is to provide God’s children with a loving, secure environment in the faith community and to provide parents with the opportunity to worship, study and serve God with peace of mind.
On Sunday we offer nurseries for the 8:45 and 11 o'clock worship services and any evening services. Nursery is provided for infants - 4K. During Sunday School (9:45–10:40 a.m.) nurseries are available for infants through older toddlers.
Nursery service is provided throughout the week as requested for various church activities such as Bible studies, meetings and seminars.
In order to provide the best care for Marvin’s children, we require that parents assist in the nursery once a quarter. Upon regular use of the nursery, parents will be added to a rotating volunteer schedule sent in the mail. If you are not a parent of a young child but would like to volunteer, please call or e-mail Shannon Pogue (903.510.8312).
