Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6
At Marvin UMC our goal is to partner with parents to help raise their children to love God and to have mission hearts. Check the monthly Messenger for a list of topics covered each Sunday in Sunday School, as well as the lessons to continue at home. Together we can provide a foundation for the acceptance and knowledge of Jesus Christ that leads to life eternal.
In addition to lessons about God, we offer numerous hand’s on opportunities for your children to live out their faith such as raising money for children's homes, collecting canned soup for the food bank or collecting pencils for PATH. Whether it is a Sunday morning or a Wednesday night, we are dedicated to communicating God’s love for the children of Marvin.
Join the children’s ministry as we impact the lives of children by teaching them about the life of Christ. Don’t you want to help a child discover and learn to love Jesus? If you do, we need you! Please e-mail and we will help match your skills with our needs.
The kindergarten through fifth-grade Sunday School classes are participating in a missions project to collect soup cans for donation to PATH.
The theme for the mission project is “MASCAR Soup Can Auto Racing” which will include a contest to select the top racing team based on points awarded for the number of soup cans donated and for race results using our souped-up racing cars on the official MASCAR rampway
Each grade level will be divided into teams. Soup can collection will begin Sunday, Jan. 4, and continue through Sunday Feb. 1, with each can counting as one point in the racing team standings.
The racing teams will qualify for races on our MASCAR rampway based on the number of cans donated, with a limited racing schedule from Sunday, Jan. 11, through Sunday, Feb.1.
The goal of the nursery program in our church is to provide God’s children with a loving, secure environment in the faith community and to provide parents with the opportunity to worship, study and serve God with peace of mind.
On Sunday we offer nurseries for the 8:45 and 11 o'clock worship services and any evening services. Nursery is provided for infants - 4K. During Sunday School (9:45–10:40 a.m.) nurseries are available for infants through older toddlers.
Nursery service is provided throughout the week as requested for various church activities such as Bible studies, meetings and seminars.
In order to provide the best care for Marvin’s children, we require that parents assist in the nursery once a quarter. Upon regular use of the nursery, parents will be added to a rotating volunteer schedule sent in the mail. If you are not a parent of a young child but would like to volunteer, please call or e-mail Shannon Pogue (903.510.8312).
Children's Sunday School classes meet from 9:45 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. There are classes and programs for all ages. Click here for a list of classes.
