Marvin Recreation is looking for a few good people to help us out one day a month! We need volunteers from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday through Friday to answer the phone, hand out towels (and other equipment as needed) and help with mailings. Contact Amy Elliott if you’d like to help.
Starters Basketball players and families are invited to 11 o’clock worship Feb. 21. All players will be recognized as a group. After worship we will treat you to a free hamburger lunch, including a slide show. Each player will receive their end-of-year awards.
Do you like to play volleyball? A group of all ages meets to play at noon on Fridays in the gym. This is for all ages; anyone who loves to play volleyball should come. Also, Marvin is thinking about starting a beginner’s volleyball league. If you are interested please contact Amy Elliott.
Marvin will offer a free ballroom dance workshop at 6:30 p.m. March 4 in the gym. If you have ever been interested in ballroom dance you should come. All ages are welcome. Dr. Feng Li, who has studied with world-renowned ballroom dance teachers, will lead the workshop.
The gym will be closed March 8–10 while the floor is refinished. The fitness center and walking track will stay open on these days.
Med Team Home Health Care will present a free blood pressure clinic at Marvin at 1 p.m. March 18 in the Hub. They will take blood pressure, check O2 stats and do a diabetic check.
We are looking for men over 18 to participate in basketball league. The games will be played in Marvin’s Fair Gymnasium on Tuesdays starting April 6 and ending May 25.. Each team will have a maximum of 10 players. Cost is $20. Sign up and pay by March 20. Please join us for fun and fellowship.
We’ll have a Wii bowling tournament for all ages fromnoon to 3 p.m. March 20 in the Hub. We’ll have food, door prizes and a grand prize for the winner. The fee is $5 per person or $15 per family. If you are interested in being in the tournament please come by the Recreation office and sign up by March 15. Contact Amy Elliott for more information.
There are a couple of new ways to work out at Marvin. The DVDs and nutritional guide for P90X and a Wii and Wii Fit board are available to check out and use in the fitness center or game room during regular operating hours.
